Afghan American Football Club are ASL's spring 2013 Champions. They were down 3 - 1 in the begining of the second half, but the game turned in their favor when Pamir FC were down to only nine players. Pamir FC lost two players to red cards after a series of rough plays and bad tackles. AAFC scored in the dying minutes to tie the game 3 - 3 and went on to win the Championship in penalty kicks 5 - 4. ASF Congratulates AAFC for winning the spring 2013 Afghan Soccer league championship and wish them best of luck in the upcoming ASF's AfghanCup 2013 tournament next week.
ASF's Athletes Participate in Memorial Day Regional Tournaments
ASF's Afghan American FC, Ariana United FC, and Aryana Basketball Club competed in Memorial Day regional Soccer and Basketball tournaments in New York and New Jersey. Aryana BC won JSAG Championship, AAFC finished runners up in AASA's 2013 soccer Championship, and Ariana United made it to quarter-finals of Brishan FC tournament in New York.
Aryana Basketball Club won men's open JSAG Memorial day tournament in Toms River, NY by defeating last year’s Champions in a thrilling final to be crowned the new JSAG Champions. It was an easy road to Championship where they faced a tough opponent, Toronto. Aryana BC was trailing by 18 points at the halftime, but their determination and hard work paid off as they overcame the deficit to win the Championship 73 - 70. The team was led by captain Yusuf Naim, Yousef Samey, Ali Samey, Zak Siddiq, Naqeeb Barekzai, tournament MVP David Amin, and Yusuf Ansary who made the last second winning shot(video).
AAFC had a slow start, but managed to secure their spot in the Championship of AAFC Memorial day tournament by a 4 -0 triumph over local NJ team, Maiwand in the Semi finals. They are a young squad with highly talented players especially Idrees Amin who was solid thoughtout the tournament. The Championship game was exciting and high tempo as both teams fought hard to find the back of the net. It was 0 - 0 till the 80th minute and it seemed as if the game was going to overtime. However, AAFC was caught off guard on a counter attack and resulted in Toronto FC scoring a goal with minutes left to the game to win the championship.
Afghan American Sports Association did an excellent job in hosting a fun and competitive Soccer tournament for the athletes as well as facilitating a friendly environment for the Afghan Community residing in the region.
AAFC Elite Wins Dulles Sportsplex Winter Indoor Championship
Afghan Amerian Football Club Elite wins the Dulles Sportplex winter indoor league Championship.
AAFC Elite is an Afghan Sports Federation (ASF) affiliated team with talented young Afghan-American players. AAFC also kicked off the Afghan Soccer leagues's spring 2013 season on April 10th against Afghan United with the game resulting in a 1 - 1 tie.
Afghan Sports Federation congratulates AAFC Elite on winning the Dulles Sportsplex indoor league and wish them much success in the future.
Kickers FC Wins ASF's 2013 Indoor Soccer Championship
The Afghan Sports Federation (ASF) held its 10th annual Bowling tournament in Annandale Virginia on Sunday February 24th.
As this become a tradition during winters for the Afghan community, young and old got together for a day of fun & competition. 15 teams composed of men & women competed for the Championship starting at 11.00 am in the morning.

Tha City Wins ASF's Winter 2012 Basketball Tournament
The Annual Basketball tournament came to an exciting and eventful ending. The winner of the tournament was "Tha City" who beat Afghan Rebels by a score of 57 to 41.
The Second place trophy was presented to Afghan Rebels captain by Mr. Assad Amin, ASF's Volleyball coordinator

Afghan-American, Hamza Monawer, Selected to the USA Under-15 National Team Training Camp
Arlington, VA – October 26, 2012 - Arlington Soccer Association (ASA) player Hamza Monawer has been selected to attend the Under-15 Boys’ National Team Training Camp in Carson, California from October 27-November 3rd. Tony Lepore, the Head Coach of the U15 Boys’ National team, recently named a 36-player roster for the team’s upcoming camp to be held at the Home Depot Center.
Monawer plays for Arlington Soccer Association’s (ASA) U15B Impact Red team. Impact Red plays in the Virginia Club Champions League (VCCL) and US Youth Soccer’s Region 1 league.
