The ASF Select team had an impressive showing in Dubai at the Afghan Football Club World Championship.  The team tenaciously and artistically maneuvered its way to the semi-finals of the tournament. ASF Select eventually fell to champions Holland FC in penalty kicks after drawing 2-2 at full time.  ASF Select finished the group stage in a 3-way tie with Premier (CA) and Holland FC.  The team defeated champions Holland FC, 5-3, in the group stage in what many consider to be the "game of the tournament."  This was ASF Select's second major tournament after winning its debut tournament, the afsnewO Cup in California. The team captain and leading goal scorer for the tournament was All American Wais Ansary.  The technical crew behind the success of the team consisted of Managers Esmat Abbasi & Jamil Faryadi with Coaches Faiz Behgoman, Azi Wasiq, and Head Coach Zia Panjshiri.  ASF’s Executive VP, Atiq Panjshiri, was also present to support and cheer the team a long way from home. ASF Select is currently playing in the 1st Division of the NVSL Men's League in Washington, DC and is planning to attend several regional Afghan and non-Afghan tournaments in the future.  ASF Select looks forward to hosting all of the talented Afghan squads from around the world at the 17th Annual Afghan Cup this July 31 to August 3 in Washington, DC.  ASF Select will be ready.  Will you?
