ASF In Afghan Brishna Cup 2015

ASF's Select and Afghan United participated in this year's Afghan Brishan Cup 2015 in Randalls Island NY.  A four day tournament with teams mainly from east coast of USA. Teams included; ASF Select, Afghan United, Pamir, NJ, Ethihad, NY and Host Brishna of NY. Both ASF teams were semifinalist and lost to Itihad FC & Brishna FC respectively.  Brishana FC defeated Etihad FC in PKs to win the Afghan Brishana cup 2015.

Afghan American FC Crowned Midnight Madness Indoor 2015 Champions

A sensational and exciting ending to ASF's  arduous all night Indoor soccer tournament that started seven years ago with an idea driven by the most poplar NCAA college basketball tournament also know as "March Madness". AAFC defeated Afghanooz seven to six on PKs to win ASF's Midnight Madnesses Indoor soccer  2015 Championship. Haywaad Ahmadzai's stunning goals changed the game and forced AAFC to a battle of penalty kicks, which ended in favor of AAFC. A total of 8 teams participated in this year's tournament on Sunday, March  1st, 2015 at Dulles SportsPlex in Sterling, VA. Participating teams were all from Virginia, including Afghan American FC, Afghan Youth, Afghan FC, United, Aryana FC, Maihan, Parakhcha Paran & Afghanooz. After a competitive and very close first round games, the top four teams advanced to the semi-finals. Afghanooz defeated AFC in the 1st semifinal game and AAFC defeated Maihan FC in the second semifinals to clinch a spot in the Championship match. The Afghan Sports Federation would like to extend special thanks to all teams, players, and manager for their participation in this year's indoor tournament and making it another successful community event. Special thanks to Afghan Market for their delicious afghan pastries which was a all night party delight with freshly brewed green tea.

 Slaven Skeledzic, The New National Football Coach of Afghanistan

Afghanistan Football Federation officially announced the appointment of the German born coach on Monday February 9. Skeledzic has wealth of experience coaching various youth teams in Germany for the last 10 years. With the Bundesliga players Sebastian Young, Marco Russ, Timothy Chandler and Sonny Kittel some of his former protégés in professional football. The 43-year-old Bad Homburger is currently the head of youth development center at FSV Frankfurt till summer of 2015. His aim is to introduce European culture and modern football in Afghanistan, also to transfer the style of training from the Afghan national team to youngsters. According to the Afghanistan’s Football Federation He will share duties with current Afghan coach Yousuf Kargar, who will return to work after he gains full health. Skeledzic's appointment as a head coach alongside Yousaf Kargar is said to have productive impact on development of Afghanistan’s football.

Afghan United Crowned ASF's Fall 2014 Soccer Champions

Afghan United FC defeated Pamir FC in the final match of ASF's Fall 2014 Soccer season to claim the Championship. The game was played at Mott Center Sportsplex located in Fairfax, VA on Friday, November 21st. Despite the freezing temperatures the game was played with high competitive spirits ending with a score of 9 - 5 for Afghan United FC.  The season MVP was awared to Afghan United's, Wais Ansary for his exceptional performance. ASF's fall soccer season started early September with nine teams competing for the Championship.  Pamir FC defeated Afghan Youth Green and Afghan United FC defeated Afghan Youth Blue to book their spots in the Championship match. ASF congratulates Afghan United for winning the Championship, managers, and all teams for finishing another exciting and full of action season.

The Afghan Sports Federation (ASF) 17th annual cultural and sporting event "Afghan Cup 2014" came to conclusion on Sunday, August 3rd at Howison Sportsplex Woodbridge, Virginia.

The 17th Asian Games will take place over 16 days in Incheon, Korea, from September 19 to October 4, 2014.  It will be the third time Korea has hosted the OCA’s showpiece event, following Seoul in 1986 and Pusan in 2002. There will be approximately 20,000 participants, comprised of 13,000 athletes and team officials from the 45 NOCs, and 7,000 media. The slogan is “Diversity Shines Here”. Athletes will compete in 36 sports, including the 28 Olympic Games sports on the program for Rio de Janeiro 2016. Afghanistan is featuring in following sports; Football, Cricket, Taekwondo and Wrestling. The Organizers will use 49 competition venues, including 23 new stadiums, and 54 training venues, 49 of which already exist. The ground-breaking ceremony for the 60,000-capacity main stadium took place on June 28, 2011, and work is expected to be completed by April 2014.
