KABUL (PAN): Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) President Michel Platini, who arrived in Kabul, was warmly welcomed by Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) head Karamuddin Karim. Visiting Kabul at the AFF’s invitation, Platini is accompanied by Azerbaijan Football Federation General-Secretary Elkhan Mammadov, AFF said in a statement. During his trip, Platini will explain how UEFA will expand its support for football in Afghanistan within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding already in place between UEFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). “This morning, in fact, UEFA supported a grass roots “Football Festival” to provide over 100 young boys and girls with high-level instruction at the AFF Stadium,” the statement said. During his visit, Platini will also be meeting President Hamid Karzai to congratulate him on the Afghan team’s recent victory in the South Asian Football Federation Championship. He is expected to meet members of the Afghanistan women’s team, the Roshan Afghan Premier League representatives and AFF coaches
