AAFC had a slow start, but managed to secure their spot in the Championship of AAFC Memorial day tournament by a 4 -0 triumph over local NJ team, Maiwand in the Semi finals. They are a young squad with highly talented players especially Idrees Amin who was solid thoughtout the tournament. The Championship game was exciting and high tempo as both teams fought hard to find the back of the net. It was   0 - 0 till the 80th minute and it seemed as if the game was going to overtime. However, AAFC was caught off guard on a counter attack and resulted in Toronto FC scoring a goal with minutes left to the game to win the championship.

Afghan American Sports Association did an excellent job in hosting a fun and competitive Soccer tournament for the athletes as well as facilitating a friendly environment for the Afghan Community residing in the region.
